  • What rheumatology services do you offer?
Prana Rheumatology offers a comprehensive range of rheumatology services tailored to address various musculoskeletal and autoimmune conditions. We recognize the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit in health and illness, and so we take an integrative medical approach, combining conventional and complementary therapies. This empowers our patients to take an active role in their healthcare journey and cultivate resilience, vitality, and well-being across the lifespan. We also offer musculoskeletal ultrasound, joint injections, trigger point injections, and vitamin shots.
  • What is integrative medicine?
Integrative medicine is an approach to healthcare that combines conventional medical treatments with evidence-based complementary therapies and practices such as nutrition, meditation, acupuncture and massage therapy. It emphasizes treating the whole person-- mind, body, and spirit-- and focuses on promoting health, wellness, and healing. While integrative medicine offers valuable approaches to healthcare, it does not replace conventional medicine, especially in cases of acute or severe medical conditions where pharmacologic treatments are essential for effective management and recovery.
  • What are joint injections?
Joint injections involve the administration of medication directly into a joint space. Ultrasound guidance is used when indicated. These injections are used to alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, and improve joint function for individuals experiencing various joint-related conditions. We offer a range of joint injections including knees, ankles, wrists, shoulders, and thumb joints. We also offer trigger point injections and nerve blocks for neck and lower back pain.
  • What is Rheumatology Direct Care?
Our Direct Care model cuts out the insurance go-between so we can provide the highest quality of care including shorter wait times, personalized treatment plans, enhanced access, and transparent pricing with a focus on patient satisfaction and superior outcomes.
  • What is the benefit of membership?
For a flat monthly fee, our membership package grants you access to unlimited follow-up visits and added benefits like joint injections, vitamin injections, priority scheduling, after-hours care, and waived paperwork fees.
  • Do I need to have a membership to see you?
All clients are welcome at Prana Rheumatology. We do not require a membership or a referral to see you.
  • Do you take insurance?
No, we do not take insurance. Prana Rheumatology is a Rheumatology Direct Care practice that allows us to build tailored care to your needs, not to the limitations of insurance companies. A transparent, flat fee is due at the time of the visit. You can rest easy knowing there will not be any surprise copays, deductibles, facility fees, or bills.
  • Why choose Prana when other rheumatologists take my insurance?
With a direct-pay model, we can bypass the limitations of insurance companies to provide customized care plans to our patients. Our patients enjoy immediate appointments, direct physician access, no-rush visits, luxury amenities, and personalized service that large, insurance-accepting clinics cannot provide. In addition, our patient-centered philosophy prioritizes patient well-being and avoids rushing to prescribe biologic infusions to patients who likely can be managed with a more conservative approach. Finally, with the rise in out-of-pocket copays and deductibles, our model provides comprehensive care for a flat rate, and potentially lowers overall healthcare costs in the long run.
  • Can a membership plan replace my health insurance?
No. We strongly recommend all of our patients carry insurance to cover the unexpected, such as emergency/urgent care visits, hospitalization, or surgery, as well as routine PCP visits, labs and imaging studies.
  • Can I use my insurance for lab work, imaging, and prescriptions?
Yes. Our model allows you to use your health insurance for laboratory tests, imaging studies, prescription medications, and covered infusion services. If you have out-of-network insurance benefits, we provide a superbill, and your insurance may reimburse part or all of the visit. However, we cannot guarantee reimbursement.
  • Can I see you if I have Medicare?
You can make an appointment as a Medicare patient. However, we do not accept Medicare, and Medicare patients cannot seek reimbursement for our services.
